Varilux Comfort is a line of progressive lenses that has established a new Standard on the market since its launch. With its high Performances and ease of adaptation, it immediately became the well-loved classic of the optician industry. Initially designed to respect the natural postures of the wearer in his/her daily tasks, it provided a maximal Visual comfort whatever the activities. But over the past years many new tools have appeared (mobile phones. MP3 Players. Computers), which significantly impacted the Visual requirements (with miniaturization. screens everywhere, frequent transitions between visions zones). Recently redeveloped to fit this modern environment. Varilux Comfort New Edition offers the wearer a natural Vision, whatever the distance and the task including digital devices.

Widening the field of vision ..

The Varilux Comfort 360 New Edition, also known as 'Enhanced' in some countries, is a sophisticated version of the Varilux Comfort New Edition.

Using the latest technologies ensures all wearers a maximum level of performance for a unique and comfortable vision, whatever the distance. The Varilux Comfort 360° New Edition lenses provide a solution based on your visual deficiency.

These lenses are characterised in particular by a wider field of vision, even in complex prescriptions.

Wider field of vision

Thanks to the tremendous progress in calculation technologies developed by Essilor Varitux Comfort New Edition lenses now have excellent aspherisation levels. The result is an almost 25% increase in the width of both distance and near vision fields.

A softer design

As unwanted astigmatism peaks and power gradients in peripheral zone 3 have been reduced, there are far fewer aberrations. The power gradients are also distributed equally on either aide of the progression, resulting in a better balance and giving Varilux Comfort New Edition a particularly soft design. Wearers will notice less swim/sway effects, and dynamic vision is more comfortable.

 Repositioning of near vision

Because the power progression is shorter, near vision is more accessible making switching between near and distance vision that much easier, and the near vision inset is better suited to the wearer's convergence. The wearer's prescription and near addition have all been taken into account when designing the new Ien3 to ensure that their gaze in near vision is much more natural.

The Total Comfort System guarantees a lens that is suited to modem life

As with all Varilux progressive tenses. Varilux Comfort* Now Edition stems from Essilor's *Uve Optics' lens development process (which uses physiological data obtained during clinical trials with the Varilux reality simulator to test design variations on patients). The Total Comfort System is a Varilux initiative that has enabled the development of a lens that meets the requirements of wearers working and living in today's demanding environments. By using the very latest technologies, Essilor R&D are able to determine the exact behaviours of presbyopes over long periods of time. A number of methods are used to optimise the lens properties, from precise observations of wearer behaviour to carrying out test a in real life conditions.

New stamping and engraving

• The « eye » engraving is modernised and stamping includes the new Varilux® logo

• The new lens is slightly shorter to match new standards.

• Varilux Comfort® New Edition minimum fitting height is 17mm.

Varilux Comfort® New Edition will be available in Orma 1.5, Airwear 1.59, Ormix 1.6 and Stylis 1.67, Clear and Transitions Grey & Brown. Ranges will be similar to the current range.

Varilux Comfort® New Edition is aspherised: base curves are different, so the finished lens may be flatter and thinner. Edge thickness - when specifically requesting Precal - will be maintained.
