DESIGNERS

Paloma Picasso, the daughter of Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, was born
in Paris in 1949 and named after the dove that her father designed as a symbol
for the World Peace Congress, that same year. She grew up in a world surrounded
by art, culture and beauty, which greatly influenced the later creation of her
own distinctive designs. Following a formal training in jewellery design and
fabrication, Paloma Picasso was commissioned by Yves Saint Laurent to design
costume jewellery for his Haute Couture, "Rive Gauche', line. Thereafter, in
1971, she went on to begin her first assignment designing with real gold, for
the Greek jeweller, Zolotas.

In 1980, Paloma Picasso joined Tiffany Et Co. where, by creating influential
collections of jewellery with precious materials and gems, she clearly asserted
her identity as a talented designer. Her distinctive pieces combine boldly
sculptured metal work, often contrasted with bright gems and powerful forms,
such as bright pink tourmalines, deep purple amethysts and clear sky-blue
aquamarines. Her most recent designs include the Magic collection which, both
beautiful and versatile, can be transformed from gold to silver depending on the
wearer's mood. In 2000, Paloma Picasso and Tiffany Et Co. celebrated the 20th
year of their co-operation and will launch an anniversary collection heralding
the ongoing success of this exclusive, world-wide partnership.
There are few fields in wicch Paloma Picasso has not revealed her talent as a
designer. Her creative prowess is celebrated throughout the international
markets with her licensing partners: L'Oréal S.A./Cosmair, Inc. (fragrances and
beauty products), Metzler Optik Partner AG (eyewear), Motif Design, Inc.
(upholstery fabrics and wall coverings), Textiles Wohnen GmbH (home textiles),
and Villeroy Et Both AG (tableware).

"....I always look for the detail that transforms the appearance of things,
the unexpected element."

Paloma Picasso demonstrates her dedication to detail in her new collection of
"Lunettes'.

It is this delicate application of detail, complemented by her distinctive
use of sophisticated materials, and her incorporation of classically simple and
elegantly modern colors and forms, which ensures that Paloma Picasso's personal
philosophy on the design and creation of jewellery, perfumes and accessories, is
perfectly reflected in her eyewear.

Paloma Picasso's creations are a clear reflection of her personal philosophy
on the significance of beauty and classic elegance in our daily lives.
