The MARTIN&MARTIN Story

Martin & Martin was founded by Martin Lehmann and Martin Stempel in 1997. Both have very different professional backgrounds. Martin Stempel trained as a type setter, qualified as a travel agent and then moved to Israel for a couple of years, where he worked as a certified diamond grader.

Martin Lehmann studied literature and philosophy, trained as a gardener and then worked in financial administration whilst getting his business studies degree. Both had been friends since school age and founded Martin & Martin in '97 by building up, mainly in Germany, a distribution network, for the LINK collection.

Later on they developed a completely new frame design in cooperation with an africanogerman artist- this was the beginning of the Anthony collection. Whilst exhibiting at the Prêt à Porter fashion show in Paris - the idea was developed to create a timeless and very charismatic collection using black, white and transparent acetate material. Consequently in 2000 the Martin & Martin concept was first launched at SILMO and the collection has been quickly spreading amongst the boutique opticians since then. The company has increasingly positioned itself as a small but highly creative and innovative frame design house- creating not just quality products, but a whole lifestyle concept and feeling.
