which, thanks to its innovative use of new generation materials,
geometries, manufacturing technologies and replacement period,
establishes new standards of quality, safety and comfort and offers
the contact lens fitter new professional opportunities.
The Readers 1day lens uses a revolutionary material consisting
of a bipolymer: Synthetic polymer FILCON 1B and natural biopolymer HYALURONATE
GEL. Filcon 1B forms the lens' solid structure, while Hyaluronate Gel is a
soluble substance enriched with active minerals such as calcium, magnesium and
potassium, which are already present in the tear film.
As is well known, insufficient tear film or an alteration in its quality are the
most common conditions leading to risk of disease or discomfort during contact
lens use.
The Hyaluronate Gel is bonded to Filcon 1B during lens manufacture (Hydromade
System). Its function is to lubricate and stabilise the tear film, thus
protecting the corneal and conjunctival epithelia.
In fact, the new material composition results in a lens which, thanks to body
temperature and normal blinking, gradually releases the hyaluronate gel
solution, whose hydrating and mucomimetic properties persist on the lens for the
recommended, clinically tested wearing time, offering the wearer great benefits
of wellbeing and eye hygiene together with an incomparable sensation of
freshness.
Thanks to its mucomimetic effect, the slow release of Hyaluronate Gel helps
maintain and restore mucin volume within the tear film, significantly reducing
the most common symptoms of eye dryness.
