brand new product, from the laboratories of Safilens, Safe-gel 7 days proposes,
through its innovative use of new generation materials, geometry and production
technology, to set new standards in quality, safety and comfort as well as new
opportunities for the contact lens professional.
The Material
The revolutionary material used in the safe-gel 7 days is made up of two
polymers (bipolymer):
Filcon 1B and the natural biopolymer Hyaluronate gel.
The polymer Filcon 1B is the solid structure of the lens. The biopolymer,
Hyaluronate gel is the soluble substance, enriched with the active minerals
calcium, magnesium and potassium, found naturally in the tear film.
Advantages
One of the most frequent pathologies or causes of discomfort
amongst contact lens wearers is an insufficient tear film or an alteration in
the tear film quality.
Recent studies show that this situation is caused by the numerical
reduction of the mucin producing caliciform cells, consequently leading to a
reduction in mucin.
The slow release of the Hyaluronate-Gel, thanks to its mucomimetic
effect, helps to maintain and renew the volume of mucin in the tear film,
significantly reducing
the
most common symptoms of dry eyes, normally associated with:

rubbing of the tear film (wearing contact
lenses)

environmental factors (wind, light, smoke,
dry air)

visual factors (video monitors, reading,
detail work)

Chemical pharmaceutical factors
(eg. contraceptive pill, anti anxiety medication, antihistamines)
