HARD CONTACT LENSES

 

ard contact lenses are divided into scleral lenses and corneal lenses. Scleral lenses have a large diameter and cover nearly all the lower part of the eye. They are hardly used any more except for under water diving or for physiological research on the eye. Corneal lenses cover only part of the cornea and come in different sizes. Hard corneal lenses are made of a rigid, scratchproof material, leave few deposits and do not need a great deal of cleaning. The material does not get wet and is not gas permeable. The disadvantages are that they are felt by the eyelids and take some time to get used to. There is a high loss risk and dust can get underneath the lenses which must then be removed and rinsed. They are not suitable for violent sports or sea sports.

 

Method of use for hard or gas permeable contact lenses.

Contact lenses handling with long nails can be dangerous for the contact lenses or your eyes. Do wash your hands before contact lenses handling. Closed the washbasin before cleaning the contact lenses. After contact lenses cleaning, rinse the lenses thoroughly. Take up the fallen lens with the tip of your finger slightly watered, or with your sucker. Never slide the lenses on a mirror or the table. Make your self up after the insertion of the lenses. Remove the lenses out before taking the make up away. Keep the eyes closed while you are using a hair spray. Never put the lenses in contact with chemicals. Never wear a damage lens or having any anomalies.

Contact lenses insertion:

Wash your hands, eliminate any trace of soap, and dry them. Put the lens on the tip of the index finger. With the middle finger, pool down the border of the bottom lid.

With the other hand, pool up the border of the upper lid toward the eyebrows.

With the eye wide open, gently put the lens on the eye. During this operation steer at the tip of the finger with the lens on it. When the lens is right in place, take the lids a little while, and then leave the lids slowly and blink with caution. If the lens is displaced, take it off, and restart the all operation.

Centering

 

Some times lenses displacement occur on the white part of the eye. Do not worry The conjunctival bag stop the lens and the lens can not slide behind the eye. With a little of patience and experience your will center the lens without any difficulties. Check on the mirror the lens position, looking to the left, to the right, up and down. An the look to the opposite side where the lens find place, and push Gently the lens on the cornea with the middle finger, in looking strait on. Start again the operation until the lens is right in place on the cornea.

Taking the lens off (method 1)

Take place before a table with a little mirror. Leaning the head forward in looking at the mirror. Lie your finger on the temporal side of your eye and open your eye, and then pool the eye lids towards the ears, at the same time look towards the nose in blinking one or twice. The lens will fall on the mirror. Later, when you will be familiar with this operation, you will let fall down the lens in the other hand. If this method, do not work, try the second method.

 

 

Taking the lens off (method 2)

Take the sucker between the thumb and the index finger and pool the bottom lid down with the middle finger of the same hand. With the other hand pool the upper lid up. Lie the sucker, at right angle on the middle of the lens. This operation might be easier if the sucker is slightly humid. Stay with the eye open and pool out the lens with the sucker.

 

 

Care of the lenses

A regular care of the lenses is very important for your contact lenses. Your contact lenses practitioner will advice you on the appropriate care regiment for your lenses.

After the wearing time:

Take the lenses out from your eyes.

Put a drop of cleaning solution to each side of the lens and rub gently the surface during 20 seconds, between the thumb and the index finger. Rinse the lenses thoroughly. And place them in the case with fresh conservation solution. The case has to be clean at least twice a week, and replaced every 6 months.

Precautions

If any problems come along, ask immediately our practitioner for an advice. If your use a care regiment not suitable to your lenses, you me impair the lenses or your sight. The immediate defects or later defects caused by a wrongly handling of the lenses, can not be the responsibility from the practitioner or the maker. Do not leave on your lens for more then 3 hours the first day of wear. And take a 2 hours steps each of the following days. Do not wear the lenses over the time recommended by your practitioner. Make a check every six months.

Usage

To compensate the optical faults of vision and ameliorate the visual acuity and for esthetical reasons.

Contra-indications:

Inflammations, infections or eye's wound. Any modifications of sensitivity from the cornea. Dry eyes syndromes. In case of any immune illness. Any Lids problems. Interaction between other chemicals. In order to avoid any problems with other care solutions, you should use the products recommended by your practitioner. Taken a long medical treatment may affect the lachrymal layer on the eye, and changes the wearing comfort. If you use eye drops, do read the notice of use.

Secondary effects

Any comfort modification during the wear of the lenses, lachrymal discharge, eye redness, diminishing of vision, or allergic reactions, must be told to your practitioner. Any negligence might lead to eye's problems.

Recommendations:

Check regularly your eyesight and your contact lens with your practitioner. Clean and disinfect regularly your contact lenses according to the method of use of your solutions. Do not over wear your lenses; change them according to your practitioner's recommendations. Do not wear any damage lens. Do not wear if you suffer from any eye's irritation or redness, consult your practitioner. Read the notice of your care regiment and the advice for stocking them.

Make-up for women

• Always apply hair spray before inserting your lenses.

• Always apply make-up after inserting your lenses.

• Never allow soaps, cosmetics, or other substances to come into contact with your lenses.

• Never apply eye make-up to the inner portion of your eyelids.

• Never use eye make-up that is likely to run into your eye.

• Never share or borrow eye make-up or applicator brushes.
